The members of Bolivar Soloists trained in Venezuelan youth orchestra organization “El Sistema” and continued to study in Europe, and so they bring the best of both continents into a unique performing style: emotion and refinement, passion and understanding. Their repertoire combines the works of classical European composers with those coming from Latin-America. These original programmes convey the eclecticism of their musical expression; mixing elements of Latin-American folk with core classics make their concerts an explosive experience.

Bolivar Soloists recorded with Mexican Tenor Rolando Villazón the CD “¡México!” for the Deutsche Grammophon which was awarded with the Echo Klassik 2011 in the category Klassik ohne Grenzen. They also released the CD “Fuga a las Américas” in 2012 and in 2013 two  LPs (Vinyl) under the label Berliner Meister Schallplatten: “Música de Astor Piazzolla” and “Música de Venezuela” recorded with “Direct to Disc” technology. In 2014 the Bolivar Soloists recorded the CD “Caramba” which includes chamber music from Venezuelan composers and features the Venezuelan national instrument, the cuatro*.

They have performed in the most prestigious venues across Europe, such as Konzerthaus Vienna, Philharmonie Berlin and Munich, Royal Festival Hall in London and Salle Pleyel in Paris, to mention just a few. The ensemble has performed at prestigious festivals such as Rheingau Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico, Swiss Film Awards and the Mozartfest Würzburg.

Bolivar Soloists explore in its new sextet formation (flute and string quintet) an exciting repertoire that combines original music and arrangements of both classical and Latin-american music as well as compositions of their flautist Efrain Oscher. Ocassional guests, such as trumpeter Pacho Flores bring their own expertise and artistry to the ensemble helping us to get the most authentic interpretations of the vast Latin American and classical European repertoire.
